On December 15, Michigan-born singer Ryan Gallagher addressed whether he plans to file for Filipino citizenship.
At the media conference for the Christmas single ‘The Feeling of Christmas,’ which LionhearTV covered, Gallagher highlighted the realization of possibly being a dual citizen if he filed for Filipino citizenship.
“I don’t, no. I should apply. I’ll be a dual citizen, di ba?”
Aside from possibly getting Filipino citizenship, he also discussed how much he loved staying in the Philippines.
“Mahirap, ah Taglish lang.
“I love staying in the Philippines. That’s why I’m here so much, so I’m [going to] be here all month.”
He also revealed his plans to show his friends from the United States around in tourist spots around the country in February 2024.
“And I’m bringing some friends [with me] from the States in February, and [we’re going to] show them all the islands.
“My friend has a company, and he employs Filipinos through his company. I think he has 15 employees here in the Philippines–here in Cebu and Manila. So, he’s going to come, and he’s actually going to bring them to Disney World, or Disneyland in Hong Kong, and we’re going to do a tour all over the Philippines.”
He then recounted how he became an ‘adopted Filipino’ after his experience working with Pinoys.
“So, when I moved to Los Angeles, the first person who produced a show for me was Filipino. His name was Monet Lou, the hairdresser, and yeah, I met him at the Kodak Theater, and he said he wanted to produce a show for me. And so, we did a beautiful life celebration in Los Angeles, and I sang. And I became an adopted Filipino. So that was when I was 21, and I’m 35 now, so I’ve been Filipino for 14 years now–almost half of my life.”
As for his latest single, ‘The Feeling of Christmas’ is currently available on Apple Music. The holiday song offers a fresh take on the season, infusing it with Gallagher’s unique musical style and vocals.
