Showbiz reporter and talent manager Ogie Diaz has openly shared the complex emotions he experienced after Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla publicly confirmed their breakup.
Reflecting on the intense backlash he received when initially reporting the KathNiel split, which was met with skepticism from fans, Ogie Diaz candidly discussed his sentiments in the recent episode of the ‘Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update.’
“Mixed ang emosyon ko e. Natutuwa ako dahil finally, na-vindicate ako pagkatapos akong isumpa at i-bash nang katakot-takot ng ibang Kathniels,” Ogie shared.
While Diaz acknowledged that facing criticism is an inherent part of his role as a showbiz reporter, he admitted to feeling a sense of sadness, especially when the attacks extended to his family over the issue.
“Ayoko namang magpakaipokrita—yes, happy ako dahil vindicated kami pero at the same time, nando’n din ‘yung lungkot… Tinanong ko pa nga ang sarili ko, ‘Kasalanan ko ba na nagkaroon ng ganito sa relasyon nila?'” Diaz shared with a hint of melancholy.
Several netizens showed support for Ogie, recognizing the challenges faced by showbiz reporters when delivering news, even if it is rooted in truth.
In November, Ogie Diaz faced criticism for reporting rumors about Kathryn and Daniel’s separation, receiving significant backlash from KathNiel fans.
Fermin, in her YouTube show, confirmed the breakup and challenged Karla Estrada to a face-to-face discussion on the KathNiel issue. On November 30, after an 11-year relationship, Kathryn and Daniel separately confirmed their breakup, marking the end of the KathNiel era.
