On December 7, Kapamilya artist-host Marlo Mortel revealed what he would change about himself in 2023.
At the media event for Knowledge Channels’ ‘Wikaharian,’ which LionhearTV attended, Mortel admitted that he treated himself poorly in 2023.
“Siguro, how I treat myself, Kasi, even when the year started, it was super [tough] for me. Talagang may times pa na nade-depress ka, with different factors in your life. Pero, I treated myself poorly. I forgot about my plans and my dreams.”
He then promised to better care for his well-being and stay motivated.
“So hindi ko na gagawin sa sarili ko ‘yun. Pagka as much as possible, I would go back to this point [na] I’m okay, and I’m just going to keep on going.”
When asked about the award he would give himself for 2023, Mortel responded with a ‘resilience award,’ citing the challenges he encountered.
“For me, it’s the resilience award. Kasi, alam naman ng madaming tao na I had a lot of obstacles in my life, especially when it came to my family. ‘Yung sa Mommy ko ‘ganyan, but I still stayed strong for my dad, ganyan, hanggang ngayon, ang daming dumaang mga problems the past year but I’m still here.”
As for his holiday plans, Mortel disclosed that he plans to spend his Christmas and New Year with his family, especially with his father.
“Holidays, I’m just going to be with my Dad and my other family members. Pero something traditional lang talaga, like gathering every year, seeing my lolas or titas.”
As for his project, Knowledge Channel partners with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Department of Education (DepEd), completing the ‘Values Month’ with their event centered on the educational show ‘Wikaharian.’
Mortel spearheads the program as Knowledge Channel’s mainstay host.
‘Wikaharian’ is an animated show featuring curriculum-aligned lessons promoting and developing awareness, appreciation, and love for Filipino culture, tradition, and beliefs.
Fellow Kapamilya artists Angela Ken and Maki were also present at the event.
