On November 29, Actor Jao Mapa admitted that he had regrets when he left showbiz.
At the media conference for ‘Para Kang Papa Mo,’ which LionhearTV covered, Mapa remarked how his showbiz journey came full circle when he returned to the entertainment industry after leaving in the early 2000s.
“I left showbiz–the year 2000 or 1999– I had regrets [after that.] Pero now, masasabi ko na I don’t have regrets. I’ve come full circle, tuwang-tuwa ako sa nangyayari sa buhay ko ngayon. I’ve got a family, [I’ve got] these awesome projects coming up. So, kids are starting to notice Gwapings. So it’s a blessing talaga.”
He asserted that his showbiz journey made him a better person and actor.
“Pero itong mga dekadang dumaan, pagsubok ‘to eh, nadaanan ko na, ngayon masasabi ko na I don’t regret it, na marami akong natutunan, maraming mistakes, pero in the end, when we get to my age, you become a better person, better actor. So I’m blessed, thank you God, Amen.”
Aside from his journey as an artist, he also discussed how his fellow Gwapings members grew and matured over the years.
“It’s been quite a while na nagsama-sama kami. Dati, we’ve been in a comedy show, and we’re still doing comedy now. But also nadagdagan, may tama na rin.Â
“So as actors, sa tingin ko, nag-grow na kami and we’ve come to mature at a certain point, na nagpapasalamat kami sa oportunidad na ‘to na binigay sa amin ng Viva. Working with Direk Darryl and with this wonderful cast, awesome cast, very blessed.”
