In the wake of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) canceling the ‘Eat Bulaga’ trademark owned by TAPE Inc., Paolo Contis has released a statement expressing resilience and a commitment to continue the legal battle.
Contis emphasized, “Mahaba pa po ang laban. Ibig sabihin legally, wala pang final”.
Paolo reassured that regardless of the legal outcome, the team is unwavering in their dedication to providing assistance and joy daily, which he states is the core reason for their consistent presence.
“Pero ito lang po ang pangako namin. Anuman ang mangyari ang sinimulan po namin na tulong at saya ay itutuloy na po namin araw-araw dahil ‘yun naman po ang dahilan kung bakit kami pumapasok araw-araw,” he added.
This statement follows a media conference held by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, who addressed the IPOPHIL’s decision and expressed hope that TAPE would respect the ruling and discontinue the use of the ‘Eat Bulaga’ name.
However, Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque, one of TAPE’s lawyers, asserted that the fight is not concluded, and they intend to appeal the decision handed down by IPOPHIL.
The dispute over the iconic noontime show’s trademark remains unresolved, leaving the future of its title in legal limbo.
