After securing a victorious 5-day streak last week, TVJ’s ‘E.A.T. Bulaga’ continues to dominate the noontime ratings arena.
As per the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey, ‘E.A.T. Bulaga’ maintains its top position as the number one noontime program, surpassing competitors ‘Eat Bulaga!’ and ‘It’s Showtime.’
On Monday, December 11, ‘E.A.T. Bulaga’ achieved a 4.0 percent rating, outpacing its archnemesis, ‘Eat Bulaga!’ by 0.6 percent, which scored 3.4 percent. ‘It’s Showtime,’ on the other hand, secured a rating of 2.8 percent.
The following day, Tuesday, December 14, TVJ’s noontime program extended its lead, adding 0.3 percent to reach 4.3 percent, once again surpassing TAPE Inc.’s ‘Eat Bulaga!’ at 3.2 percent, while ‘It’s Showtime’ registered a 2.9 percent rating.
Midweek on Wednesday, December 15, ‘E.A.T. Bulaga’ maintained its 4.3 percent rating, in line with ‘Eat Bulaga!’ that also held steady at 3.2 percent. Meanwhile, ‘It’s Showtime’ improved by 0.1 percent to reach 3.0 percent.
The winning streak of ‘E.A.T. Bulaga’ commenced following the Intellectual Property Office’s decision to approve Joey de Leon’s petition to cancel TAPE Inc.’s trademark registration of ‘Eat Bulaga’ and ‘EB.’
In its December 5 decision, the IPOPHIL stated that the petitioners (TVJ) possess the “absolute and exclusive right to register” the “Eat Bulaga” or “EB” trademark, acknowledging sufficient evidence that they originally coined the term.
TAPE Inc., in response, has filed a motion for reconsideration, hoping the IPO will reverse its decision and rule in their favor.
