On December 15, singer Darren Espanto clarified that he and Kim Chiu are on good terms following his surprise song number on ‘It’s Showtime.’
At the media event for ‘When I Met You in Tokyo,’ which LionhearTV covered, Espanto explained that he and Chiu remained on good terms after he sang ‘Ano’ng Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa’ at the ‘MeChoose MeChoose’ segment of the noontime show.
“Sabi ko, sorry talaga, sorry, sorry. Tapos sabi niya, okay lang ‘yun. It was just a joke lang naman. Tsaka sabi niya masaya naman. It wasn’t anything personal.
“At tsaka ate Kim and I, even off cam, totoong magkaibigan naman po kami.”
Espanto appeared on a November 28 episode of ‘It’s Showtime’ and sang the breakup-themed song, which sparked reactions among the noontime show hosts and studio audience.
Earlier, rumors about Chiu and Xian Lim’s breakup surfaced, with the Kapamilya host-actress maintaining silence over the issue.
The only response Chiu gave was during the 25th-anniversary fashion show of Filipino designer Francis Libiran at the City of Dreams Manila, wherein she said, “Grabe… sa amin na lang ‘yun, we’ll just keep it to ourselves na muna.”
As for their MMFF 2023 movie, ‘When I Met You in Tokyo’ stars Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon.
Joining the seasoned actors are Cassy Legaspi, Darren Espanto, Kakai Bautista, Lynn Cruz, John Gabriel, Jacky Woo, Gina Alajar, Gabby Eigenmann, Kouki Taguchi, Lotlot De Leon, and Tirso Cruz III.
Under the direction of Conrado Peru and Rommel Penesa, ‘When I Met You in Tokyo’ opens in cinemas on December 25 during the MMFF 2023.
