Kapamilya primetime shows, Cant Buy Me Love and Senior High are among the most remarkable winners in the local TV ratings game, last Thursday, December 21, which daw the entire Primetide Bida lineup (except news), winning their respective time slots versus their Kapuso rivals.
Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano (a.k.a. DonBelle)’s first series on primetime, made history on Thursday, after setting a brand new all time high people rating of 9.7 (Nielsen Philippines), the highest ever achieved by any Kapamilya on its time slot, since the ABS-CBN franchise denial, more than three years ago. The new record obliterated the old record set by The Iron Heart, which peaked at 9.4 on September 28, this year.
Against its rival Kapuso show, Love Before Sunrise’s 8.2 (without delayed telecast), Can’t Buy Me Love‘s December 21 episode also notably delivered the biggest lead ever registered by a Kapamilya show on the second primetime slot. Perhaps, more spectacularly, is how the Kapamilya series pulled off such a feat while its rival show is down on its last two weeks on air.
Similarly, teen drama, Senior High delivered no short of spectacle in the ratings, by posting a very impressive 6.0 people rating, its highest since debut. That’s just 0.2 short of matching its predecessor, Dirty Linen‘s record of 6.2 which it set on August 8, 2023.
Kapamilya action-drama, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo remains untouchable as the most watched entertainment program on local television, registering a whopping 15.0 people rating. That’s 5.2 ahead of Black Rider’s 9.8. The series has notably kept its winning streak in the ratings, for already three months, the longest for any Kapamilya show post-shutdown. Meanwhile, The World of A Married Couple, continues to rule the Asianovela shot, posting 3.7 people rating, versus Queen of Masks‘ 2.5, on December 21.
This is the only the fourth time that all primetime dramas of ABS-CBN ruled their respective time slots in the ratings game.
