On September 22, actress Alessandra de Rossi talked about her experience working with the child actor Euwenn Mikaell in ‘Firefly.’
At the media event for ‘Firefly,’ During the scene drop event for ‘Firefly’ at Azadore Restaurant in Quezon City, which LionhearTV covered, de Rossi praised Mikaell’s timing as a child actor.
“Okay naman si Euwenn, siyempre iba kasi ‘yung timing nung bata. Pero matagal ko na kasing gustong gumawa ng pelikula na may bida na bata na touching heartwarming, ganern. So sabi ko, perfect ‘to. Buti na lang cute siya, charot.”
She then remarked how she had wanted to take on a mother role.
“Oo mga bata, madami ‘yun. Pero siyempre, as a you know, ganon. Yes mother ako dito, mother. Mother ng ten-year-old. Hindi kasi, story of a mother, pero story of a child kasi ‘to sa pagkakaintindi ko.”
She also detailed her experience as a child star in connection to Mikaell’s experience as a child actor.
“Hindi. Bida kasi siya eh, so pagod siya. Ako tulog-tulog lang naman ako noon. Wala pa ngang tent noon, so nakahiga lang sa ilalim ng puno, ganon. So parang iniisip ko, parang hindi.
“Masaya ang buhay niya, walang cut-off cut-off noon. Ngayon may DOLE na, wala noon. Dati gigisingin ka, ‘ikaw na, ikaw na.'”
“Pero hindi naman ako masyadong gumagawa ng projects noong talagang batang-bata pa ako. Kaunti-kaunti lang ‘yung nagawa ko. Nag start ako– talagang dumeretso ng mga 15, 16, 17, kaya tumangkad ako.”
She then shared why she accepted the role in ‘Firefly’ because of the director Zig Dulay.
“Siya, siyempre alam mo na. Siyempre gusto mong balikan ‘yung masayang pakikipagtrabaho sa kaibigan mo na magaling. Masaya kasama ganon, tsaka maganda talaga ‘yung kwento.”
‘Firefly’ stars Alessandra de Rossi, Euwenn Mikaell, Cherry Pie Picache, Epy Quizon, Yayoy Aguila, Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Max Collins, and Kokoy de Santos, with a special participation of the Kapuso Primetime King, Dingdong Dantes.
‘Firefly,‘ under the direction of Zig Dulay, premieres on December 25 nationwide as part of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 roster.
