On December 10, Kapuso actor Alden Richards highlighted the themes of his upcoming GMA Network period teleserye ‘Pulang Araw.’
At the Sparkle Fans Day 2023, which LionhearTV attended, Richards discussed ‘Pulang Araw’ set during World War II.
“I’ve done quite a few. I’ve done my fair share of period projects. I did Illustrado. And I did Indio din at the same time.
“Pero parang nakukutawa kasi–ito trivia about Pulang Araw, so since it’s World War II, lahat po kasi ng kamag-anakan natin, back in the day. ‘Yung mga lolo ng mga lolo natin, one way or another, experienced World War II.”
He also noted how the series would tackle how people during the Japanese occupation period and the 2nd World War fought for the freedom Filipinos enjoy today.
“Na-experience po nila ‘yung nangyari doon. And kung hindi dahil sa mga sakripisyo ng mga nakakatatanda natin or ancestors, wala ‘yung mga freedom natin ngayon, hindi tayo nakakapag-fans day ngayon, hindi tayo nakakapunta sa mall, hindi natin mai-enjoy ‘yung freedom that we have if not for their sacrifice. So that’s what Pulang Araw is all about.”

As for Sparkle Fans Day 2023, GMA Network stars Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, Ruru Madrid, Bianca Umali, Kelvin Miranda, and Jak Roberto performed during the event at the SM North EDSA Skydome for their Kapuso fans.
Also present during the Fans Day event is the newest PPop boy Group, Cloud 7, with members Kairo, Egypt, Lukas, Migz, PJ, Fian, and Johann.
Sparkle Teens and Sparkle Love teams also attended the Sparkle Fans Day with Shayne Sava and Abdul Raman, Bryce Eusebio and Princess Aliyah, Marco Masa and Ashley Sarmiento, and Allen Ansay and Sofia Pablo.
Hosted by Rain Matienzo, Migs Almendras, Angela Alarcon, Hannah Arguelles, and MJ Ordillano, the Kapuso fan fair showcased Sparkle GMA Artist Center stars and they showed their gratitude to their supporters.
