Yassi Pressman has revealed the driving force behind her decision to join the cast of the upcoming action series ‘Black Rider’ alongside Ruru Madrid.
Her enthusiasm for actively participating in action scenes rather than being a passive character is what led her to embrace this role.

‘Black Rider’ is set to premiere on November 6, following ’24 Oras’ on GMA Network’s primetime lineup. It will face off against another action series, ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,’ starring Coco Martin, her former leading man in ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’
Yassi is excited to play the character Vanessa in the show. Vanessa is a petty thief with a dark past, intricately connected to the notorious syndicate known as the Golden Scorpion.
“Si Vanessa po kasi, sobra akong na-excite kasi matagal ko na rin pong gusto na magkaroon ng action series na ako rin po lumalaban,” Yassi exclaimed.
Yassi emphasized the complexity of her character, as Vanessa’s life journey is marked by adversity. She hails from a troubled past that forced her to flee, but her challenges persist as she faces the trials that life throws her way, eventually leading her to a life of thievery.
Yassi’s career began as an aspiring dancer, and she was prominently featured in GMA Network musical variety shows like the now-defunct ‘SOP’ and ‘Party Pilipinas.’ She also appeared in the youth-oriented show ‘Tween Hearts.’ In 2016, she made the transition to ABS-CBN and participated as a housemate in ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7.’ That same year, she took on the role of Coco Martin’s leading lady in ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’
“It’s a role na hindi ko pa po nagagawa, very different from the usual. Sa mga pelikula na sweetheart or sunshine. Ito po si Vanessa, kapag napikon, nananapak po siya. ‘Yung ganon pong klase na angas ng babae,” she shared.
Returning to GMA Network feels like a homecoming for Yassi, as she recalled an anecdote of meeting her ‘Black Rider’ co-star Ruru when she was just 14 years old. She expressed gratitude and excitement about reuniting with Ruru, this time as his leading lady.
Apart from Ruru and Yassi, ‘Black Rider’ boasts a star-studded cast that includes Matteo Guidicelli and Jon Lucas, with a special appearance by Kylie Padilla.
