The copyright infringement case involving Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, collectively known as TVJ, along with Jeny Ferre against TAPE Inc. and GMA Network, is on the verge of a final resolution.
Anticipation is building that the courts will deliver a verdict before the Christmas holiday season.
Recent proceedings in the case included GMA Network presenting its witnesses, which marked a crucial phase in the legal battle. After these presentations, all involved parties will submit their respective memoranda, allowing the court to deliberate on the matter.
The court has a 60-day period to consider the case, suggesting that a decision will soon determine whether ‘E.A.T.’ or ‘Eat Bulaga’ will claim victory and celebrate the holiday season.
Amidst these legal proceedings, Joey de Leon stirred interest with an Instagram post.
He shared an image of a t-shirt featuring a distinctive quotation: “The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name. Wear Eat Bulaga!” It’s noteworthy that the word “wear” in the quotation is a homophone for “we’re” or “we are.”
Joey de Leon, the originator of the title ‘Eat Bulaga,’ used this opportunity to convey a message. He emphasized, “We don’t compete. Our aim is to complete 50 years of noontime hosting. Counting a bit more ’til we get there.”

Recapping the context, on May 31 of this year, the entire Dabarkads team left ‘Eat Bulaga’ due to disagreements with TAPE, Inc., the production company behind the long-standing noontime show. They found a new home on TV5, using the title ‘E.A.T.’ until the court reaches a final decision.
It’s worth mentioning that the TVJ-led ‘E.A.T.’ consistently outperformed ‘Eat Bulaga’ in television ratings, but recent developments have seen ‘Eat Bulaga’ gaining higher ratings than ‘E.A.T.’
