A legendary character from a classic fable becomes a musician’s terrible nightmare. Be lured into the hypnotizing tune made by THE PIPER – in cinemas November 1, 2023.
The Pied Piper is a famous character from a children’s classic legend, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, written by Robert Browning in 1842. It’s the story of a skilled Pied Piper who helps a village with a rat infestation problem by luring the rats and taking them to the river to drown using only the tune of his pipe. In return, he asks to be rewarded with gold, which the villagers and the Chief agree to, but later on, change their minds. This angers the Pied Piper, so he decides to punish the town by luring children to follow him once they hear his music, locking the kids away from their parents.
Erlingur Thoroddsen’s film, The Piper, is a modern take with a horror twist on the classic tale. It’s about a young musician and composer, Mel (Charlotte Hope), who is given the opportunity to complete her late mentor’s unfinished concerto. But what she thought was a good move for her music career did not open doors for opportunities, instead, playing the concerto made her summon an evil force and awaken a monster you would never want to see, The Pied Piper himself.
If the Piper can haunt people every time the cursed melody is played, what happens if Mel finally completes the song? Will she figure out a way to stop the horrifying attacks? Or is she not strong enough to face the infamous Piper?
The Piper stars Charlotte Hope, more popularly known for her role as Myranda in Game of Thrones. She also is a part of several notable movies such as The Theory of Everything and The Nun. English actor Julian Sands also stars in the movie. Sands has been an actor since the 80s and has been a part of remarkable films and series such as The Killing Fields, The Medallion, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Smallville, and 24.
Produced by Millennium Media Inc. and released by Viva International Pictures in the Philippines. Catch The Piper in cinemas nationwide this November 1, 2023.
