On October 26, MUPO National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee highlighted why Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee deserves the ‘5th-Crown’ for the Philippines in the coming Miss Universe 2023 pageant.
At the media conference for Dee’s send-off to El Salvador, which LionhearTV covered, Supsup listed Dee’s professionalism and leadership qualities as the Miss Universe Philippines Queen to take home the fifth crown for the country.
“That you are [somebody that is] easy to work with, that you are somebody who’s a leader, and that you don’t conform to anybody’s description of what a queen should be. And that’s why I think you’re deserving of the fifth crown. And we’re [really] praying and hoping that the stars align for you in El Salvador.”
Supsup also noted that Dee knows what she wants to present to the world.
“On behalf of the Miss Universe family, we are here to show our support and our love for you. We’ve seen how hard you’ve worked. And when people ask me, ‘Paano ba si Michelle, how is she as a queen?’ You know, Michelle is a leader. She knows what she wants. She knows what she wants to present to the world, to the universe.”
She also emphasized how she and MUPO support Dee’s bid for the crown.
“And I told her, when she was asking for opinions on [the things] she would be doing there, sabi ko, ‘You know, people will always have different advice, and many would be conflicting, and– but all of those advice come from their care for you. People are really rooting for you.’ So listen, but [in the end] it’s your journey.
“And I love how you are in control and that you’re not scared to be Michelle–and that’s a real queen, and we will be supporting you. We will be praying hard for you. And we are asking everyone who supports Michelle don’t forget to vote for her in the Miss Universe app. Malaking tulong talaga ‘yun and again, alam kong kaya mo.”
Dee also listed autism awareness, LGBTQIA+ issues, mental health, and women empowerment as her advocacies as a beauty queen.
Present at her send-off event were officials from Miss Universe Philippines Organization, Sparkle GMA Artist Center, and fellow beauty queens Miss Supranational 2023 1st Runner Up Pauline Amelinckx and Miss Universe PH 2023 1st Runner Up CJ Opiaza.
Dee’s pageant journey involved her titles for Miss World Philippines 2019 and Miss Universe Philippines Tourism 2022. Adding to her title is the Miss Universe Philippines 2023, making her the representative for the 72nd Miss Universe Pageant, held in El Salvador, Spain.
The voting for the semi-finals for Miss Universe 2023 starts this November 3, 2023, at 6 p.m.
