Recognized as the Kapuso Action Drama Prince for his notable roles in successful action series, Ruru Madrid responded to comparisons regarding his acting style and that of veteran action star Robin Padilla.

The actor, currently gaining acclaim for his role in the popular series ‘Black Rider,’ unintentionally mirrors Padilla’s style, a resemblance that has caught the attention of netizens.
In an interview on the Updated with Nelson Canlas podcast, Ruru openly acknowledged the observations made by people about the similarity in their acting styles. He clarified that the resemblance is not deliberate but rather a natural influence from Padilla, whom he considers a childhood hero and idol.
“Growing up, siya talaga ‘yung hero ko e, ‘yung parang iniidolo ko. Halos lahat ng pelikula niya, napanood ko, so siguro, somehow, nagagaya ko, unintentionally,” shared Ruru during the podcast.
The Kapuso Action Drama Prince expressed that the influence of Padilla is deeply ingrained in his approach to acting, emphasizing that it is an unconscious adoption of his idol’s style.
“Nasa sistema ko na. Unconsciously, ‘yun pala ‘yung na-a-apply ko and I don’t think it’s bad. Idol ko talaga siya e,” Ruru explained.
Apart from Robin Padilla, Ruru also disclosed that he draws inspiration from other Hollywood action stars and even finds creative influence in Korean series that he enjoys watching.

While the comparisons have been noticed by netizens, Ruru’s co-star and Robin Padilla’s daughter, Kylie Padilla, has also acknowledged the resemblance.
“May mga kilos si Ruru na nakikita ko talaga ‘yung tatay ko. Sinasabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘You look like my dad.’ Actually, nakakatawa kasi nagko-compete kaming dalawa kung sino [ang] mas magaling gumaya,” Kylie shared in a separate interview.
Ruru further revealed that Kylie often points out how his movements remind her of her father. “Lagi nga niyang sinasabi na parang ‘Oo nga no, ganyan na ganyan ‘yung mga galaw ni Papa. Ganyan na ganyan kung papaano kumilos, tindig, tayo,’” recounted Ruru during the podcast.
