On September 29, Philippines Concert Queen Pops Fernandez highlighted what she wanted to do with her career now that she signed with Viva.
At the media event for her contract signing with Viva Artist Agency, which LionhearTV covered, Fernandez remarked that she wants to work on light-themed projects.
“Parang gusto ko nga mga-light-light muna, again I haven’t done movies in a long time. So I guess as a warm-up. Gusto ko rin ng mga thrillers, because that’s what I love to watch. Ayaw ko masyado ng drama kasi parang galing na ako doon in real life. Gusto ko naman ng mas light naman.”
She also expressed interest in doing mystery-thrillers or action-thriller projects in the future.
“Sexy-thriller? Siguro ‘yung partner ko, magiging sexy, ako ‘yung thriller sige. Parang gusto ko ‘yun yeah, kasi kapag nanonood ako ng mga movies sa digital, ‘yun ‘yung mga pinapanood ko. Parang it makes me think, it makes me guess.
“I guess depende, hindi naman siya action-thriller, pero pwede rin, like I said, pang-action pa naman. But more on I guess a thinking thriller, more than a horror, ‘yung thinking. ‘Yung mga Dramedy, ‘yung mga rom-com.”
She also confirmed that she is open to working with younger artists.
“Maybe the– ‘wag ninyo ako pag-name-in ng mga list no, pero mga younger stars para maiba naman. Hindi naman necessarily partner ko but just the mere fact that I get to work with them. Not necessarily– siguro nga para lang maka-trabaho ko lang sila, para ma-experience ko lang rin ‘yun the way the story goes right now and how they do movies now.
“I’ve already done that in the past, I don’t mind, so, mother naman talaga ako. And I started early kaya malalaki na rin naman ‘yung anak ko.”
As for her past projects, Fernandez starred with Richard Gomez and Joyce Jimenez in the Fernandez Maryo J. de los Reyes movie.
Aside from her FAMAS nomination, she also got two Best Supporting Actress nominations for ‘Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah’ from Gawad Urian Awards and Star Awards for the Movies in 2007.
Fernandez also hosts the TV5 OPM-inspired romantic anthology series, ‘For The Love,’ which showcases her singing talent in each episode.
She recently released the song ‘Always Loved’Â under Star Music, which she co-wrote with Trisha Denise, Sab, Jeremy G, and Star Music director Jonathan Manalo.
She also revealed her hopes of releasing music under Viva.
“Right now, kasi, I’ve recorded with Star Music, and we just released ‘Always Love,’ that’s my latest single. We just released the music video. It’s a different type of music video. Maybe in the future, more songs–here also.
“Mayroon pa kaming ire-release very, very soon, we’re going to shoot the music video so kaabang-abang din ‘yun. So hopefully, people can relate to ‘Always Love’ because again ang tagal ko ng hindi nagre-record, so this is my message for the people, [for] my audience, and [for] the listeners na love yourself.”
Fernandez also has a one-night pre-Valentine’s Day concert event in February 2024.
