QUEZON City District 1 (QCD1) Representative Arjo Atayde, as Vice-Chair of the Creative Industry and Performing Arts Committee of the 19th Congress, is set to promote once again Original Pilipino Music (OPM) to the youth of the district in the upcoming event titled Kyusiklaban Distrito Uno Music Festival 2023 on November 11 (Saturday) at Quezon City Memorial Circle.
Conceived in 2022, this is the second installment of this music festival that aims to foster unity among the youth of the district by celebrating life through the promotion of OPM especially after all the challenges that the country faced after almost three years of living with the pandemic.
The event highlights the talent of Filipino artists that is globally renowned and respected while advocating the elevation of the arts not only to the district but to the entire city as well as this is also in line with Atayde’s proposed bill – House Bill No. 457, which is an act declaring Quezon City as the “Film and Television Arts” capital of the Philippines.
Hosted by MC Muah, Ton Soriano, and Lassy – collectively known as “Beks Squad” the event features performances from a stellar line-up of Pinoy artists such as Parokya Ni Edgar, Flow G, Mayonnaise, Carla Cray, and Rivermaya.
“We are so excited to mount the second installment of this music festival. As we envisioned last year, we are aspiring to make this an annual event to provide the youth of the district a wholesome space where they could have fun and celebrate life and Pinoy artistry with family and friends,” says Atayde. “I am in awe of the talent of our local artists and this event gives the people of the district free access to enjoy OPM and witness amazing performances.”
The event kicks-off at 1:00 p.m. where gates will be opened and the festival proper starts at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available for free and could be redeemed from the district’s SK Chairmen and Barangay Officials.
