On October 10, A1 Member Mark Read highlighted how the ’90s boyband group got to appreciate their music careers.
At the media conference for ‘A1 Twenty Five Manila,’ which LionhearTV covered, Read recounted how overwhelmed they were with their music careers when they were younger.
“We actually get [the opportunity] to appreciate what we’re doing now [a lot] more than we did back in the day. As we all expressed previously, we didn’t have time. We were [really] growing up in a whirlwind back [in those days,] and every single moment–days, weeks, or months, were scheduled for us.
“And we were just caught up in that whirlwind, that we didn’t [really] take the moment to breathe it all in and [just] soak in what was [going on.]”
He also admitted how caught up they were with topping the charts when they released music.
“And we [were having] fantastic time– it was incredible what we achieved together, but we were so concerned with, ‘Oh, what number in the charts this songs going to go to? Or what number the next song is [going to] go to?’ you know, [all of our] focus was in that.”
However, as they matured, Read noted how the group grew out of feeling the pressure of their success as an iconic boyband.
“And now we don’t quite have the much pressure on our shoulders– now we feel so grateful that here we are and still doing this. So actually–you have to appreciate everything you know.”
Read also cited how they were pleasantly surprised with the support from their Filipino fans.
“But now, when we put on another show in Manila– and we [were] told that the first night it sold out, and we’re doing another one, that [just] fills us up. That’s the most [amazing] thing.”
He also thanked everyone who gave them the opportunity throughout the years.
“We never take that for granted. We [truly] do appreciate it and everyone that afforded us this opportunity, all of our fans that gave us the opportunity [to still be] able to do that, so we have a massive amount of gratitude as a band now a days because it’s just [awesome] that we’re still out here doing this.”
