In a remarkable performance for the 14th-year celebration of ‘It’s Showtime,’ Team Jhong, consisting of Jhong Hilario, Kim Chiu, and Ion Perez, delivered a compelling message on responsible cellphone and social media use.
Their presentation on Friday not only showcased their impressive dance skills but also featured a daring wall-climbing act by Jhong, Kim, and Ion. Adding surprise elements to the act, Bernard Palanca and Janice de Belen joined as guest performers.
The climax of their presentation was a poignant moment where Jhong used a simulated phone call to convey a message to his daughter, Sarina. Kim apologized to her father for their infrequent meetings, while Ion remembered his late sibling.
Following their performance, the trio shared insights into their concept. Kim Chiu emphasized the impact of technology on relationships, urging viewers to be mindful of their words and actions online.
“Puro advance technology ang napapanood namin. Sabi ko, ‘Kuya Jhong paano ito?’ Tapos hindi siya nawalan ng pag-asa. Sabi niya mayroon naman tayong talento at mayroon tayong sariling lakas ‘yun na lang ang ilabas natin at saka ‘yung puso natin na gusto nating mag-inspire ng madlang people, lalo na ngayon,” said Chiu.
Their message revolved around the responsible use of cellphones, highlighting the device’s dual role as a companion and a potential source of distraction. They urged viewers to be cautious of the words they use online, emphasizing the importance of spreading love instead of hate.
Kim added a reminder to cellphone users about the importance of not forgetting the time spent with those around us, especially our parents.
