After the recent announcement of the new Sang’gres in the upcoming series ‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre,’ Iza Calzado, the original Amihan, hinted at the possibility of her return to the beloved show.
In a video greeting shared on the series’ Facebook page, the former cast members of ‘Encantadia’ from the 2005 and 2016 versions were featured, including Sang’gre Amihan Iza Calzado.
In her video message, Iza said, “Avisala, ito si Amihan. Gusto ko lang mag-send ng aking best wishes and a lot of good energy para sa bagong cast ng Encantadia Sang’gre and I am hope[ing] to see and meet all of you soon, maybe on set.”
Fans are now speculating that Iza may make a guest appearance in the new ‘Sang’gre’ series, along with other original cast members such as Karylle, Diana Zubiri, and Sunshine Dizon. There’s a strong connection between Iza and her previous character, and in fact, the name of Sang’gre Angel Guardian’s character is based on Iza’s daughter, Deia Amihan.
In an Instagram post, Director Mark Reyes shared how he requested permission from Iza to use her daughter’s name in the new series.
“’Hello Izadora. For the new series Sanggre, Suzette, Ms. Redgyn and I are wondering if you will if we call Amihan’s daughter ‘Deia?’” the message from Director Mark to Iza read in a screenshot he shared.
Iza expressed her gratitude for the request, saying, “Basta Deia has a good heart and good things happen to her then super good with us. Thank you so much for thinking of Deia and asking for permission even if we don’t own that name.”
Meanwhile, in an Instagram post, Angel shared her heartfelt gratitude to Iza for the personal conversation they had and for receiving her blessings for her new role.
In response, Iza conveyed her best wishes and support for Angel as she takes on the role of “Deia,” hoping it brings the breakthrough she deserves and encouraging her to take good care of the character.
Angel promised to carry the name “Deia” with kindness, power, and grace.
