TV host and beauty queen Herlene Budol is now making waves as the lead in a top-rated series.
With the approaching conclusion of her show ‘Magandang Dilag’ on Friday, November 10, Herlene sat down for an emotional interview with Nelson Canlas on GMA Integrated News, which aired on ’24 Oras’ on November 7.
During the interview, Herlene shared her emotional and financial journey. She expressed gratitude for her newfound financial stability, which she attributed to her career’s success. Herlene highlighted that her earnings had enabled her to provide for her family’s medical expenses, a source of comfort she didn’t have before.
However, amid her success, Herlene opened up about a personal sacrifice she had to make, specifically in her love life. She revealed that her boyfriend had broken up with her during the peak of her acting career. The breakup occurred around the time she had her first onscreen kiss, though she wasn’t entirely certain that was the reason for the separation. Nevertheless, Herlene mentioned that they still maintain communication.
“Wala na po akong syota e, nag-break na po kami e. Siguro dahil sa first time kong nag-kiss ba sa TV…’Di ko po sure kung iyon pero bigla na lang po kaming nagba-bye-an po e until now naman po nag-uusap kami.”
For the time being, Herlene is dedicating herself to her career, stating that she is content focusing on her professional life.
“Ngayon po, happy po ako na binubuhos ko po ng buong buo dito sa aking career po muna.”
Despite projecting a positive image on television and social media, Herlene admitted that she is deeply affected by the criticism and negative comments she receives. She expressed how she has been hurt by the way her words and actions are sometimes misconstrued and turned into something negative by others. Herlene recounted how she would cry uncontrollably and lose her appetite and sleep in the wake of these comments.
In the face of it all, Herlene emphasized the importance of staying true to oneself and expressed her belief that this is why viewers have embraced her. She suggested that people may relate to her candid and genuine way of speaking and connecting with her audience.
In conclusion, Herlene expressed her gratitude to those who believed in her and emphasized the importance of self-confidence. Looking back at her showbiz journey, she commended herself, saying, “Good job.”
