Rock band Here+Now keeps their flame fanned as they release their new single “Set Me on Fire.” The new track talks about the band members’ internal battles and confronting the ego holding them back. “
The backstory is really about my struggle with life’s curveballs and my headstrong determination to try and become a better version of myself,” vocalist Paco Santos shares.
The band also shares how their experiences, especially during the past year, fueled their passion for music further. Along with the release,
Here+Now also dropped an accompanying lyric video and will play their new single live for the first time at TugTogTug- a label showcase presented by Off The Record and Sony Music Philippines at Balcony Music House.
Before releasing the single, Here+Now also took this as an opportunity to explore other genres to infuse with their signature rock sound.
Inspired by artists like EZ Mil, Linkin Park, and I Prevail, guitarist Patrick Poblador suggested adding a rap verse- something they initially thought wouldn’t work. “We actually had an argument about it,” they share, jokingly.
However, the idea sparked a collaborative process, allowing them to open themselves further and incorporate new styles. “We’ve decided to continue with the same writing process for lyrics and melody moving forward,” they state.
With 2024 around the corner, “Set Me on Fire” serves as Here+Now’s mantra for the coming year. The band has landed multiple opportunities this year, including a chart breakout on MYX Global with their current hit “Paglaya”, and a coveted Wish 107.5 Bus guest slot among others.
“Even as a young band, we’ve been through milestones that made us closer together as a group, despite some member changes,” they say as they recount their activities this year.
“The fact that people resonate with what we made inspires and motivates us to go above and beyond what we envisioned,” they add. As a peek of what’s to come, the band plans to release a series of new singles, official merch, and a much-anticipated debut EP by early 2024.
