On November 21, award-winning actress Dolly De Leon expressed excitement to meet Nicole Kidman in their upcoming series.
At the media event by her new management team, CreaZion Studios, which LionhearTV covered, De Leon revealed that they would start production for the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers in January 2024.
“Hindi pa, hindi pa kami nagkikita, mag-start pa lang kaming mag-shoot sa January. Lilipad ako sa January, bale second week of January, doon ko pa lang siya mame-meet.
“Balita ko method actor daw siya, so hindi ko lang sure masyado kung maka-bond kami, kasi kapag method actor, medyo laging in-character palagi. But I’m excited to meet her.”
She also felt ecstatic working with White Lotus actor Murray Bartlett and Ingrid Bergman actress Liv Ullman.
“I’m also excited to work with Murray Bartlett na sobrang, Oh my Gosh, napakahusay na actor. Siya ‘yung sa The Last of Us at tsaka sa White Lotus and marami kaming scenes together ni Murray Bartlett dahil ‘yung character niya at character ko magiging close. So excited na excited akong makatrabaho siya.Â
“At tsaka siyempre si Liv Ullman, who is an Ingrid Bergman actress, so ‘yun.”
As for projects in the Philippines, she confirmed that half of her 2024 would be for the six-month filming period of their series in Munich, but her team is reading scripts from PH productions.
“Sa ngayon, we’re in the middle of reading scripts. So it’s mostly that, nagbabasa-basa kami ng scripts. Pero, for next year, wala pa so far kasi nga Nine Perfect Strangers anim na buwan akong nasa Munich, so ‘yung buong kalahati ng 2024 ko, wala na hindi na ako available. So right now, we’re reading scripts, we’re considering things.”
She highlighted that she wants to be part of the ongoing change in the entertainment industry.Â
“So, we’ll see if any of those scripts work out, but I would still love to work here. Marami pa rin akong mga directors dito sa Pilipinas na hindi ko pa nakakatrabaho na hindi ko pa na-eexperience. And because I love our industry here, and I want to be a part of that change [that is] currently happening [now] in the industry, I want to make it possible.”
Her upcoming international projects include the HULU series Nine Perfect Strangers with Nicole Kidman; Between the Temples, written and directed by Nathan Silvers; and Grand Death Lotto with Akwafina, John Cena, and Simu Liu.
De Leon starred in the international film Triangle of Sadness, for which she became the first Filipino actor to get a Golden Globe nomination.
