The multi-awarded Kapamilya actress has been with ABS-CBN since she got launched in 1996.
Dimples Romana shared it never crossed her mind that she had to leave ABS-CBN, after it got denied of a new franchise in 2020. In an episode of JeepneyTV’s Stars On Stars with fellow Star Magic loyalist, Dominic Ochoa, the The Iron Heart star proudly shared that it was never an option to shift TV networks, despite ABS-CBN’s franchise tragedy.
“Ang prinsipyo ko kasi sa buhay, ang pag-aartista hindi lifestyle kundi trabaho. Because I look it that way, at the time, I still had a lot of jobs, in fact, I had more jobs in the pandemic, ” she shared, noting that she actually had more projects in the pandemic and after the shutdown, among which include primetime shows, Viral Scandal and Huwag Kang Mangamba.
“So, inisip ko: ‘hindi ko siguro kailangang lumipat, kasi hindi rin ako nakakaramdam ng paghahanap, ” she revealed. Be that as it may, Romana said she is not to judge her friends (including Bea Alonso) who chose to transfer to GMA.
“Hindi ko rin naman ma-judge ‘yung mga kaibigan kong lumipat kasi it’s always a personal choice. And I would always say na, in the same manner, kahit bago pa nagkapandemya o hindi, nawala o hindi nawala ‘yung franchise natin, meron at meron naman talagang naglilipatan eh ,” she said, highlighting the fact that even before the ABS-CBN shutdown, shifting TV networks has been commonplace among local stars.
She added that she remains respectful of her friends’ decision because its theirs to make, in the first place. “Hindi rin ako to judge people who do it, kasi at the end of the day, their journey is their journey. However they want to play it out, it is theirs, ”.
Romana also made mention of her best friend, Angel Locsin, who also shifted TV networks, sharing that it has always been her hope that the warm welcome ABS-CBN gave to Locsin when she transferred, will be likewise accommodated to Kapamilya stars who transfer to GMA Network.
