Daria Ramirez, the former wife of Joey de Leon and mother to Keempee and Cheenee de Leon, recently shared her struggles after a long-overdue annulment of her marriage with Joey.
She opened up about her situation in a candid interview with talent manager and content creator Ogie Diaz on his YouTube channel.
While Daria and Joey had been living separately for over two decades, Daria had discovered that there were no legal documents certifying their separation. She found out that Joey was living with another partner, Aileen Macapagal-de Leon, and Daria wished to formalize her relationship with her new partner. She had expected the annulment process to handle these legal aspects.
What came as a surprise in the interview was the absence of a formal alimony or financial support arrangement between Daria and Joey.
Ogie Diaz inquired if Daria had discussed this matter legally, to which she revealed that she had not. Daria openly discussed the financial hardships she was facing, particularly during the pandemic, which had led to her savings being depleted.
Daria expressed her gratitude towards her son, Keempee, who had stepped in to provide financial assistance for three months in 2022, with additional support in December. She praised Keempee’s kindness and support during her challenging times.
Throughout the conversation, Daria emphasized that she harbored no resentment or hard feelings towards Joey and his new partner. She stated that there was no need for her to confront the situation because it had been ongoing for many years, and she had come to terms with it.
Daria also voiced her concerns for her children, especially Keempee and Cheenee, who were caught in the middle of the family dynamics. She expressed her sympathy for the difficulties her children were facing due to the situation but reiterated her desire not to create a division between her children and their father.
Towards the conclusion of the interview, Daria conveyed a heartfelt message to Joey, requesting financial assistance in light of her challenging circumstances.
“Don de Leon baka naman, siguro naman nararamdaman mo hindi mo lang pinapansin kailangan ko ng tulong mo, baka naman maalala mo ako hindi lang masabi ng mga anak natin dahil ayaw nilang gumitna alam mo ‘yun at mas lalong alam ko dahil nakakausap ko sila.”
She also asked for a copy of the annulment papers to facilitate the official change of her surname.
“Saka sana bigyan mo naman ako ng kopya ng annulment papers kasi kung ako pa ang lalakad ang laking gastos. E, ‘yung igagastos ko, e, di ibibili ko na lang ng pagkain ko.”
Daria remains resolute in her pursuit of financial stability and is open to various opportunities to support herself. Despite the obstacles she faces, she maintains her independence and determination to overcome her financial challenges.
