On November 15, actress Claudine Barretto discussed why ‘Lovers/Liars’ is the perfect comeback project for her.
During an exclusive interview at the ‘Lovers/Liars’ media event at the Luxent Hotel, which LionhearTV covered, Barretto remarked that she wanted to portray a role that would reflect her journey in life.
“Ang dami na po ng dumaan na mga scripts at tsaka mga offers sa akin. Pero noong sinabi sa akin ‘yung plot, ine-explain sa akin ni Miss Noreen, at ni ALV ‘yung manager ko, parang naisip ko, iba naman siya sa lahat ng teleserye na ginagawa ko. Kasi, ever since talaga ang forte ko, is teleserye.
“I grew up with Direk Wenn sa Mula sa Puso, hanggang sa nagka-asawa ako, napahiwalay, nanganak, malaki na ‘yung anak. So it has to be kung ano ‘yung age ko, kung ano ‘yung mga pinagdadaanan ng babae na ka-age ko, ‘yun ‘yung gusto kong gawin ngayon na mga roles.”
She then noted how her experiences in the past seven years would help her portray her role.
“And iba’t iba siya kasi matapang, at tsaka maraming mga sikreto na hindi mo makikita sa regular talaga na teleserye. Like what they said kanina, iba na ang gusto ng audience ngayon. Iba ‘yung gusto nila makita, so ibang-iba siya sa mga ginawa ko.
“And ang mapa-promise ko lang talaga is, siguro sa seven years na hindi ako gumawa ng teleserye, siguro 101% if not a million percent ang ibibigay ko dito.”
She excitedly talked about how the series would depict the themes of secrets, lies, and betrayal.
“Actually, na-excite ako, sa isang teleserye ko, I was able to portray ‘yung CEO na powerful, pero walang ilicit affair. And like what I said, ang difference nito is maraming secrets and ang maganda dito is ‘yung secrets, lies, and love ang meron dito talaga.
“And na-excite talaga ako dahil dito, mas matapang, mas matapang ako, and at the same time, makikita mo na lahat ng tao, kahit gaano katapang, mayroong weakness, whether it be love, or sa relationship, or career, lahat ng tao may sikreto and weakness, and ‘yung sikreto na ‘yun it’s either to protect yourself and the people that you love. It’s not always ‘yung may secret ka to hurt other people.”
‘Lovers/Liars’ stars Claudine Barretto, Shaira Diaz, Yasser Marta, Rob Gomez, Kimson Tan, Michelle Vito, Sarah Edwards, Polo Ravales, Christian Vasquez, and Lianne Valentin.
Under the direction of Crisanto Aquino, ‘Lovers/Liars’ airs on November 20 via GMA Telebabad.
