GMA Network recently introduced its latest primetime series, ‘Black Rider.’ How did it perform in terms of TV ratings and online viewership?
During its pilot episode on Monday, November 6, ‘Black Rider’ debuted with a 12.1 percent rating, marking a competitive entry against its rival, ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo (FPJBQ).’ However, it fell slightly behind FPJBQ, which secured a 15.5 percent rating. Despite this, ‘Black Rider’ showed improvement compared to its predecessor, ‘Maging Sino Ka Man,’ which started with an 11.4 percent rating.
Nevertheless, it didn’t match the pilot ratings of another series starring Ruru Madrid, ‘Lolong,’ which premiered with a higher 17.7 percent rating.
Despite its competitive TV ratings, ‘Black Rider’ struggled with online viewership.
According to LionhearTV’s monitoring, the series peaked at just over 17,300 live concurrent views during its pilot episode, significantly lower than FPJBQ’s over 467,000 peak live concurrent views.

‘Black Rider’ marks Ruru Madrid’s return to primetime after a hiatus of more than five months following the conclusion of ‘The Write One,’ a romantic-drama-fantasy series where he starred alongside real-life girlfriend Bianca Umali. It’s also Madrid’s comeback to the action genre after the success of ‘Lolong’ in 2022.
Directed by Richard Areallano, ‘Black Rider’ also starred Matteo Guidicelli, Yassi Pressman, and Katrina Halili, with a special appearance by Kylie Padilla.
In the series, Madrid portrays Elias Guerrero, a delivery app motorcycle driver for Biyahero, who assumes the identity of “Black Rider,” a vigilante determined to combat the notorious syndicate, Golden Scorpion.
‘Black Rider’ airs weeknights at 8 p.m., following ’24 Oras.’
