On September 22, actress Alessandra de Rossi revealed that she didn’t want to do the role of Valentina in ‘Darna’ (2005).
During the scene drop event for ‘Firefly’ at Azadore Restaurant in Quezon City, which LionhearTV covered, de Rossi recounted how she felt apprehensive about accepting the role for the series, which caused her to intentionally increase her talent fee before joining the project.
“‘Yung worst–‘yung tanggapin ko ‘yung mga ganon, ‘yung Valentina, alam ko ayaw ko naman siya from the start, nagtaas nga ako ng presyo. I think mas mataas ‘yung sweldo ko kay Darna, charot. Para kasi ‘yung presyong ayaw.”
However, she noted the persistence of GMA Network in having her take on the iconic super-villain role.
She then cited how taking on the iconic ‘Kontrabida’ role seemed to typecast her in similar characters in future projects.
Thankfully, with the success of ‘Kita-Kita,’ de Rossi was able to break away from doing antagonist roles.
Pak, sumabog ‘yung Kita-Kita, may ibang message.
“And din nangyari siya, ‘Ahh, so may maniniwala na sayo ngayon na pwede kang ibenta, kasi before talagang no lahat.’ Even before Kita-Kita was made, hirap na ako ng producer niyan kasi no lahat. Kahit GMA nag no din. Mahirap talaga, pero when it happened, ‘uy pwede ah, pwede pala talaga ‘to.”
