Cristy Fermin, along with her co-hosts Wendell Alvarez and Romel Chika, brought up the topic of Willie Revillame during the October 13 episode of ‘Showbiz Now Na.’
This discussion comes after Willie recently faced backlash for accusations of exploiting the less fortunate.
In September, Cristy had appeared to come to Willie’s defense when he faced criticism from bashers who alleged he was taking advantage of the poor to enrich himself. However, in this recent conversation, her tone appeared to shift.
She pointed out that there didn’t seem to be much progress with Willie’s new show, which was supposed to air on government-owned stations PTV 4 and IBC-13. She expressed her concern for the viewers who were eagerly awaiting the program.
Cristy wondered about the potential reasons behind Willie’s professional struggles, asking her co-hosts, “Ano sa palagay n’yo ang nangyayari kay Willie Revillame? Bakit siya bumagsak ng ganitong lakas ng lagapak?” Wendell suggested that it might be due to a lack of attention, while Romel mentioned ungratefulness.
Cristy, without hesitation, attributed the downfall to arrogance, “Kayabangan.” Willie Revillame’s camp has not issued any statement regarding this discussion.
Willie Revillame has faced various challenges in his career, including controversies with ABS-CBN and TV5, suspension by the KBP, and a decline in his show’s ratings. Some viewers have criticized his hosting style as abrasive and offensive.
In July 2022, Willie signed a contract with Advanced Media Broadcasting Systems (AMBS) with the aim of reviving his variety game show, ‘Wowowin.’ However, the return of the show has been delayed for several reasons, including AMBS being a relatively new network still building its infrastructure and programming. Additionally, the network faces competition from well-established networks like ABS-CBN, GMA Network, and TV5.
Earlier this year, ALLTV temporarily ceased airing several programs, including Willie Revillame’s ‘Wowowin,’ in February.
