Despite recent controversies, Vice Ganda expressed gratitude for the continued recognition and blessings he receives from the entertainment industry.
The renowned TV host and comedian was recently honored with the title of Iconic Pinoy comedian in the Philippine showbiz community.
However, Vice Ganda expressed regret for not personally attending the awarding ceremony during the closing of the 3rd Philippine Film Industry Month on September 29. He shared the stage with other prominent figures in the industry, including Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, Ai Ai delas Alas, Eugene Domingo, Michael V., and the late Comedy King, Dolphy.
In a live episode of ‘It’s Showtime,’ Vice Ganda issued an apology for his absence at the event and extended his appreciation to everyone who continues to support and love him. He also conveyed his gratitude to the Film Development Council for acknowledging his contributions to the film industry.
“This is just very timely. As usual, the design is very consistent, di ba? The design is very consistent, yung after a few days, may award. Laging ganu’n, di ba? Alam na alam ng madlang pipol yan. Gets na gets na nila yan. The design is very consistent,” Vice Ganda remarked, subtly alluding to the 12-day suspension of ‘It’s Showtime’ imposed by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Vice Ganda recently received the Best Asian Original Game Show award at the Content Asia Awards 2023 for ABS-CBN’s ‘Everybody, Sing.’ Although he couldn’t attend the award ceremony in Thailand, he expressed his gratitude in an episode of ‘It’s Showtime.’
He dedicated the award to the late director Wenn V. Deramas, who directed many of his blockbuster films. Vice Ganda fondly recalled Direk Wenn’s significant role in his career and expressed his everlasting appreciation.
He acknowledged that while many were delighted and happy for him, some raised their eyebrows and expressed annoyance because of the award. He emphasized that he didn’t intend to upset them with the award and hoped it could serve as inspiration to everyone.
Vice Ganda also extended his gratitude to all those involved in “It’s Showtime” and his partner, Ion Perez, stating, “Thank you, Lord, because I continue to win.”
