A cloud of uncertainty hovers over the recent controversy involving the iconic Filipino band Kamikazee, as the group failed to perform at an event commemorating the fiesta of Casiguran in Sorsogon.
Rather than offering a direct response to the pressing questions surrounding their encounter with Sorsogon governor Boboy Hamor, Jay Contreras, the lead singer of Kamikazee, opted for a cryptic social media post. Contreras shared a black and white image of himself on Instagram, accompanied by the caption, “I choose love.”
Additionally, Contreras reposted numerous messages of support and praise for their band on his IG Stories.

As reported by Ian Cruz during the ’24 Oras’ news segment on Monday, Sorsogon governor Boboy Hamor addressed the incident on stage, revealing that he had asked the band to leave.
Hamor further explained that the band had already been compensated for their performance before the incident.
According to Dong Mendoza, the Public Information Officer of Sorsogon, the governor became displeased when Kamikazee refused to participate in a photo session at the venue’s 16,000 blue roses attraction.
Mendoza explained that while the band initially agreed to the photoshoot, they failed to appear at the venue on the day of the event.
Kamikazee, known for their hit song “Narda,” is a prominent OPM band consisting of members Jay Contreras, Jomal Linao, Led Tuyay, Jason Astete, Allan Burdeos, Jian Lubiano, and Mikki Jill.
