Pan emphasized that online shopping in the Philippines will continue to thrive even as physical malls and brick-and-mortar stores reopen. She described the trend towards online shopping as irreversible, a phenomenon that has become more pronounced since the onset of the pandemic.
During Shopee’s recent 9.9 sales event, there was a significant surge in viewership and first-time buyers on Shopee Live, with six times more viewers and 41 times more first-time buyers compared to an average day. Pan highlighted that the interactive nature of Shopee’s live selling platform enhances the overall shopping experience for customers.
Furthermore, Shopee’s brand ambassador, Vice Ganda, will play a prominent role in the upcoming Christmas season. Vice Ganda, a well-known comedian and television host, became the face of the e-commerce platform in August. Pan noted that Vice Ganda has had a positive impact on Shopee’s social media engagement and discussions.
