On September 15, Mega Star Sharon Cuneta voiced her opinion on her daughter KC Concepcion’s recent unfollowing of her stepfather, Senator Kiko Pangilinan, and her sister, Frankie Pangilinan.
During the media conference for the upcoming reunion concert ‘Dear Heart’ at Okada Manila, which LionhearTV covered, Cuneta noted that there had been a misunderstanding between Concepcion and her family, reiterating that it was a family matter.
“And sometimes kapag pinaaalalahanan ang isang tao ng amain, anak, kapatid, mommy, mayroong mga tao na ayaw nilang– ganon lang may pagtatampuhan. So ganon lang ‘yun. And it hurt me, siyempre na may unfollow-unfollow, pero pamilya kami, this is a family matter.”
She maintained that she doesn’t play favorites among her children, KC, Frankie, Miel, and Miguel.
“I’m a mother first kasi based on experience, ang asawa pwedeng mawala. Pero, ang dugo at laman mo, bumaliktad man ang mundo, dugo at laman mo ‘yan. Ano man ang– you know what, I don’t play favorites.”
She then clarified that while she loves her children equally, she also acknowledges that some of her kids have a closer personality to her as a person.
“Some people say na favorite na anak ko si Frankie, I love my all children equally, it’s just that, doon lang tayo sa totoo, kung sino siyempre ‘yung lagi mong kasama, lagi mong katabi, mayroon ka lang mas nakakasundo and among all my children ang kaugali ko si Frankie. And Miel is my buddy, Miguel is very–he’s a gentleman. Ang hindi ko nakikita si KC.”
She further pointed out that her eldest has a similar personality to her father, Gabby Concepcion.
Siguro nagkaroon lang ng kaunting–let’s just say, first of all, among my children KC is the one the most, let’s just she’s opposite of me, ang lakas ng dugo ng Papa niya, kaya sila magkasundo kasi they’re the same. For better or worse, they’re the same.”
She then hoped that Concepcion would not forget about Cuneta’s sacrifices as a parent.
“Lahat ng desisyon ko noong araw, because of KC, because of KC, she was my wholeworld, and I’m happy that they’re together now. But I hope that no one forgets, least of all KC, all the sacrifices [that] I made when I was raising her because it wasn’t [easy.] I had her when I was 19, and I was practically finding my way as a new adult, and I have to raise her, and I made my work my therapy– that’s why I became a workaholic.”
As for her upcoming project, Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion reunite for an upcoming concert titled ‘Dear Heart’ on October 27 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. They would also have a special VIP night at the Okada Grand Ballroom on October 30. The concert will also have a second leg going to Cebu on November 17.
