On September 29, seasoned actress Ruby Ruiz reacted to people comparing her and Dolly De Leon.
At the media conference for the Vivamax movie ‘Langitngit,’ which LionhearTV covered, Ruiz acknowledged how she was getting compared with De Leon following her role in the Amazon Prime series with Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman, ‘The Expats.’
“Lagi pong nakukumpara, hindi natin ma-ano ‘yun, pero ako po ang tingin ko doon sa A Very Good Girl, okay– ako’s very bad.”
She also remarked how De Leon paved the way with her role in the film, ‘Triangle of Sadness while highlighting her current film ‘A Very Good Girl.’
“Sa A Very Good Girl po, nauna lang kasing ilabas ‘yung ano nila, ‘yung pelikula, and she paved the way, and she’s just so full of luck and also talent of course, hindi naman po siya magiging– mapapansin sa international kung hindi maganda ‘yung performance.”
She also insisted that there was no comparison with their projects because De Leon got international recognition for a film while she worked on a series, wherein their lead, Kidman, praised her professionalism as an actress.
“And hindi po siguro– if I may take this occassion para linawin, na hindi naman po siguro para ikumpara po lalo kapag nilabas na ‘yung series ng Amazon Prime, starring Nicole Kidman, in January 2024, para ikumpara po, kasi ‘yung sa amin po, it’s a series, although mayroon po silang film version–okay po.”
She then discussed her role in the Amazon Prime series as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) with another Pinoy actress.
“Dito po kasi, parang ni-represent ko ang Overseas Filipino Worker, and not just I, dalawa po kami dito na Filipinang nakapasok doon. ‘Yun po, ang salamat po sa pagbati ninyo sa performance ko sa ‘Langitngit.'”
