Seasoned actress Rio Locsin has expressed her annoyance at younger actors who use their cellphones during rehearsals and filming, stating that it disrupts their work and shows a lack of respect for their fellow cast and crew members.
During an interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,’ Rio shared her exasperation, explaining that she finds it irritating when her co-stars are glued to their phones even during crucial rehearsals.
She clarified her sentiments during a conversation while participating in GMA Public Affairs’ latest action series, ‘Black Rider,’ which is her current project. The actress emphasized the importance of respecting one’s scene partners and professionalism on set, stating that a mobile phone’s constant interruptions can hinder the workflow.
“Naiirita o naiinis ako talaga kapag may telepono sa set. Kapag may cellphone sa set, kapag nagre-rehearse na, nagbibigay na ng instruction, ako kasi wala akong telepono sa set,” said Rio. She further emphasized the need for mutual respect in the workplace, suggesting that actors should put their phones aside when they are working, and adhere to the guidelines and etiquette established on film and television sets.
Despite her frustration with this behavior, Rio Locsin appreciates it when young actors take the initiative to approach and introduce themselves. She believes that building relationships and rapport with colleagues is crucial in the industry.
She pointed out that when young actors voluntarily approach her for a conversation, it paves the way for a more harmonious and professional working environment.
Rio Locsin has enjoyed a successful career in the entertainment industry, beginning as a child actress in the early 1970s. She gained fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s as a popular leading lady, starring in successful films such as ‘Bira! Darna! Bira!,’ ‘Working Girls,’ and ‘Manila By Night.’ She has recently appeared in ABS-CBN’s ‘Darna’ and will be featured in the upcoming GMA Network series ‘Black Rider,’ where she stars alongside Ruru Madrid.
