On October 10, actress-content creator Rica Peralejo shared her opinions about netizens who are ‘brave from afar.’

Peralejo noted her opinion on her Threads account, calling out ‘titos’ and ‘titas’ who condemned the violence during the weekends following Hamas’ attack against Israeli civilians but remained silent during the rampant number of extra-judicial killings in the country.

She then recounted one of her friends’ remarks about Christians being the ‘noisiest now’ and quoted the woman she was referring to, saying, ‘Oh, the people who are brave from afar.’

Peralejo also cited how those people who are ‘beholden to their patrons’ could not escape their current mindset.

She then wrote posts expressing her grief to the victims of the violence in Israel and Gaza, the lives lost, and how the conflict began.

On October 9, Israel declared war against the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza after their surprise attack at a music festival on October 8, 2023, causing casualties of 260 civilians and abducting others as hostages.

According to reports, the death toll rose to over 1,500 people on both sides of the Israel-Hamas conflict, with two Filipinos confirmed as casualties.

Reports also say that 26 Filipinos got rescued while three were still missing.
