On October 4, ‘Online Inlove’ writer Eldrin Veloso revealed why they cast real-life social media influencers for the roles in the upcoming digital series.

At the media conference for the digital series ‘Online Inlove,’ which LionhearTV covered, Veloso noted how they valued the relatability of their series, especially for those aspiring social influencers.

“So what we wanted first and foremost, is for the show to be relatable. Kasi, what we want for other influencers or influencer wannabes– pag nakita nila na kunwari we casted real good actors, I mean magagaling silang umarte, pero if you cast ‘yung mga kilalang artista mga ganyan, they might shift in the focus.

“Kasi, maka-focus doon sa artista or sa acting quality. But we don’t want to kumbaga distract or parang gusto natin ma-crystalize na ang point ng istorya na ‘to is about the world of influencers.

“So they would see actual influencers that they know, that really producing content na hindi masyadong lalayo doon sa istorya or doon sa konsepto.”

He also discussed what made their digital series different from other projects that tackled stories about content creators and influencers.

“‘Yung pinaka-different about Online InLove is it’s a show about influencers. I don’t think there’s an online show that has this kind of concept already. Mayroong about being in the life of celebrities, be in the life of film production at the very least no. Pero, a concept of a series about online influencer world, wala pa talaga.”

He maintained that they wanted to keep the series as authentic as possible.

“So, even with our like Elsa Droga, each episode we’ll be featuring influencers who would be coaching the candidates, the contestants in different challenges, kasi nga we really want to be authentic in this and [at the same time.] To make it more exciting we will feature actual influencers, actual content creators, to be part of the series in terms of how they would be the guest challengers on the academy.”

As for their upcoming digital series, ‘Online Inlove’ features influencers such as Gab Rosales, Daniel Bautista, Elsa Droga, Oreo Libios, Pink Rose, Marissa Joelle, Jewel Gines, and Jassy Calupitan.

The series is under the co-production of MJ in partnership with Mabuhay PH Digital Network.

‘Online Inlove’ was a concept created by the series director Jag Cruz and written by Eldrin Veloso.
