Amidst the ongoing controversy involving the television programs ‘E.A.T.’ and ‘It’s Showtime,’ as they grapple with issues related to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), well-known talent manager and comedian Ogie Diaz has offered his perspective on the matter.
Ogie Diaz suggests that Joey de Leon’s comment regarding the “lubid” carries more substantial implications compared to the recent icing incident involving Vice Ganda and Ion Perez on ‘It’s Showtime.’
During a recent episode of the ‘Showbiz Update’ streamed on YouTube on September 30, Ogie shared his viewpoint, asserting, “Ako ah kung hihingin n’yo opinyon ko, mas mabigat ‘yung lubid kaysa sa icing.”
Ogie’s viewpoint aligns with the sentiments of many individuals active on social media platforms, particularly those on X, who seem to share a similar assessment. In recent weeks, there has been a growing outcry among netizens who believe that the MTRCB’s actions exhibit a perceived bias and unfairness.

Never make a joke about suicide. The same with depression and other mental health disorder. Mental health is not a shallow thing that you can make fun of, especially when you are on suppose to be a respected personality on national television. Have respect.

As of the present, however, no formal complaint has been lodged with the MTRCB directly concerning the “lubid” issue raised during Joey de Leon’s show, ‘E.A.T.’
The management of ‘E.A.T.’ has previously issued an apology in response to the controversy surrounding the comment. The contentious remark emerged during a segment of the noontime show where a contestant was tasked with hanging five items around their neck. Some netizens interpreted the Henyo Master’s remark about the “lubid” as potentially related to suicide.
