If the loyal ‘Madlang Pipol’ believe that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board’s (MTRCB) decision to suspend ‘It’s Showtime’ was intended to diminish its competitiveness in the ratings race, recent rating reports from the Nielsen NUTAM People survey may support that notion.
Following the MTRCB’s 12-day suspension of ‘It’s Showtime,’ the show’s ratings began to decline, benefiting its competitors, ‘E.A.T.’ and ‘Eat Bulaga!’ The program, which previously averaged more than 3 percent in ratings, dropped into the 2 percent range.
On Monday, September 25, ‘It’s Showtime’ registered a rating of 2.7 percent, which was 0.6 percent lower than ‘Eat Bulaga!’ at 3.3 percent and 1.6 percent below ‘E.A.T.’s’ 4.3 percent.
On Tuesday, September 26, ‘It’s Showtime’ maintained its rating of 2.7 percent, trailing ‘Eat Bulaga!’ by 0.2 percent at 2.9 percent and ‘E.A.T.’ by 1.5 percent at 4.2 percent.
The following Wednesday, September 27, the Kapamilya noontime show once again scored 2.7 percent, remaining below ‘Eat Bulaga!’ at 3.3 percent and ‘E.A.T.’ at 4.1 percent.
By Thursday, September 28, ‘It’s Showtime’s’ rating had dipped by 0.1 percent to 2.6 percent, still overshadowed by ‘Eat Bulaga!’ at 3.5 percent and ‘E.A.T.’ at 4.0 percent.
However, it saw a slight recovery on Friday, September 29, increasing by 0.2 percent to 2.8 percent but still falling short by 0.4 percent against ‘Eat Bulaga!’ at 3.2 percent and ‘E.A.T.’ at 4.2 percent.
As the new week began on Monday, October 2, ‘It’s Showtime’ experienced a further drop in ratings, scoring 2.5 percent against ‘Eat Bulaga!’ at 3.3 percent and ‘E.A.T.’ at 4.2 percent.
There was a slight improvement on Tuesday, October 3, as ‘It’s Showtime’ posted a rating of 2.7 percent compared to ‘Eat Bulaga!’ at 3.6 percent and ‘E.A.T.’ at 4.2 percent.
Notably, during this week, Vice Ganda was rarely seen on the show, often arriving late or appearing in later segments, possibly due to meetings related to the suspension.
Before the suspension order, ‘It’s Showtime’ had been performing well in the ratings race, closing in on ‘E.A.T.’ and even surpassing ‘Eat Bulaga!’ on September 18 with 3.4 percent compared to 3.1 percent.

Now that the suspension of ‘It’s Showtime’ seems inevitable, the show’s ratings are expected to remain low unless they can devise a strategy to reverse the downward trend.
