On September 14, singer Moira Dela Torre admitted to having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD.)
At the media event for brand endorsement for ‘Maria Clara Sangria’ and ‘Maria Clara Virgin,’ which LionhearTV covered, Dela Torre discussed how she learned to be a social drinker despite being an introvert and having ADHD.
“In our industry, we always have to be social. I am an introvert, but I had to learn to be social. And I’m an introvert, [and I have] ADHD, so I had to learn [how] to be social and be around people. So, I have learned to kind of drink socially. So when I’m out, I know how to control my drinking. But when I am with people I am safe with, I [do] allow myself to get a little drunk.”
Dela Torre then revealed how she balances social drinking, her introverted nature, and her ADHD.
“Everything in moderation [ganyan.] I don’t believe in depriving yourself. I think when somebody asked about Keto (diet), I did all the diets before, [and] it didn’t work until– until I just, last year [I’ve] just decided to take it easy and to take it one step at a time.”
She also noted how taking things in moderation helped her improve her health.
“And it just came off naturally–with the help of my hormone doctor, and so like everything just happened effortlessly. I wasn’t focusing on my weight, but I was focusing on my mental well-being. And I wasn’t depriving myself of any food, I wasn’t depriving myself of anything, I was taking everything in moderation.
“I was taking my time, taking it one day at a time–[and] everything just slowly happened.”
As for her diagnosis, she remarked that acknowledging her condition, strengths, and weaknesses helped her care for herself more.Â
“I think it’s knowing how to acknowledge my weaknesses [as well as] my strengths and [acknowledging] what was good for me and what was [bad.] And knowing what to walk away from. So yeah, I think that’s how I learned [how to] take care of myself.”
As for her brand deal, Dela Torre is the newest ambassador of the alcoholic beverages ‘Maria Clara Sangria’ and ‘Maria Clara Virgin.’Â
She also composed a heartfelt song, ‘Maria Clara,’ to further promote their campaign’s optimistic message of self-love despite the situation.
