Filipino singer, songwriter, and actor Juan Karlos is currently basking in the limelight, not only for his remarkable acting but also for his flourishing music career.
He has been a nightly fixture on the primetime Kapamilya series ‘Senior High,’ earning praise and sparking conversations across online platforms.
Yet, his success extends beyond the small screen, as Juan Karlos has been making waves as a recording artist. His latest single, ‘ERE,’ achieved a significant milestone by debuting at an impressive #4 position on the Global Spotify Viral Songs chart just a few days ago. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that ‘ERE’ became the first Filipino song to debut on Spotify’s global chart, entering at a remarkable #177 with over 1.22 million streams.
What’s particularly noteworthy is that ‘ERE’ set a new record for the highest single-day streams for a Filipino song on Spotify, amassing a staggering 1.6 million streams within a 24-hour period.
Originally released in August 2023, ‘ERE’ delves into the theme of heartbreak and abandonment by a loved one. The track is part of Juan Karlos’ latest album, ‘Sad Songs and Bullshit Part 1,’ which was unveiled just last month. The album boasts a collection of nine tracks, including titles like ‘Sad Songs and Bullshit,’ ‘may halaga pa ba ako sayo??,’ ‘Manhid,’ ‘Paruparo,’ ‘Gabi,’ ‘Time Machine,’ ‘Lumisan,’ and ‘Tapusin Na Natin To,’ featuring Paolo Benjamin of the indie folk-pop band Ben&Ben.
In addition to the Spotify success, Juan Karlos treated fans to a live performance video of ‘ERE’ on YouTube, which quickly soared to the top of the trending music charts on the platform.
This significant achievement not only underscores Juan Karlos’ musical prowess but also highlights the growing international recognition of Filipino music and artists, contributing to the global ascent of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
