Acclaimed actor John Arcilla has expressed optimism about the prospect of working with GMA Network once again in the near future.
This revelation emerged during a conversation at the ABS-CBN Ball 2023 when entertainment reporters inquired about his potential involvement in the forthcoming sequel to the fantasy series ‘Encantadia.’
Notably, John Arcilla portrayed the character “Hagorn” in the original series, which originally aired in 2016.
Arcilla disclosed that he had sought permission from ABS-CBN management, and they have granted him permission to engage in a project with the Kapuso network.
“Nagpaalam na ako sa ABS-CBN; hindi pa nagkakaroon ng sequel ang ‘Encantadia,’ sinabi ko na na kapag lumabas ang ‘Encantadia’ ay gusto kong gumawa sa GMA-7,” he conveyed.
He further added, “I think it’s not impossible kasi sinabi nila sa akin from the very beginning it’s OK to do projects with GMA, and that is official.”
In addition to his comments about potential local projects, John Arcilla unveiled that he is presently in discussions with a prominent Filipino-American producer regarding an international project.
“When I won the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival, I was hoping na masundan pa ‘yon,” he shared.
Continuing, he remarked, “Well, sana ‘yun ‘yung maging door para kung meron mang producers tsaka mga agents internationally who will give me a chance to do some projects na full-length na—American or French film man siya, or project from Italy.”
John Arcilla achieved a historic milestone in 2021 when he secured the “Best Actor” accolade at the Venice Film Festival held in Italy. This honor recognized his outstanding performance in the film ‘On the Job: The Missing 8,’ directed by Erik Matti. He became the first Southeast Asian actor to receive such a prestigious award from the renowned film festival.
Looking ahead, John’s next project is the psychological thriller film ‘The Guest,’ in which he will share the screen with actor Daniel Padilla. The film is scheduled for release in 2024.
