Veteran comedian and host of the show ‘E.A.T.,’ Joey de Leon, has opted for a poetic response to address the criticism he and fellow comedians face for their brand of humor.
In a recent tweet, Joey shared a poem authored by his former co-host, Michael V., which sheds light on the challenges comedians encounter amid online scrutiny.
The poem, reposted by Joey, serves as a message to those who have been critical of comedians’ comedic styles:
“Mahirap na ngayong magpawa.”
Marami na ngayong namumuna,
Tingin nila mas magaling sila,
Sila ang dapat narito pala!
Eh ano ang tawag sa kanila?
Kung sa lugar mo’y ang tagal mo na?
Mas kwela sila palagay nila
Ayunnnn… INGGITERO’T INGGITERA!

This poetic response follows recent online criticism that Joey de Leon faced for a joke he made during an episode of E.A.T. In that particular installment, he remarked to one of the players of ‘Gimme V: Laro ng mga Henyo’ that a “lubid” could also be worn around a person’s neck.
In light of Joey’s remark, the management of ‘E.A.T.’ took action by issuing an official apology. They expressed regret for any offense caused and extended their apologies to those who found the statement offensive.
Jeny Ferre, the head of E.A.T. creatives and production operations, affirmed, “In this regard, the whole E.A.T. management is regretful and apologetic to those who were offended by the said utterance. Rest assured that we are one with MTRCB in advocating a responsible viewing experience for the public.”
As of the current moment, Joey de Leon has not issued a public apology personally related to the incident.
