On September 27, ‘Shake Rattle & Roll: Extreme’ director Joey De Guzman recounted his sleep paralysis experience after filming in a haunted school.
At the cast reveal event for ‘Shake, Rattle, & Roll: Extreme,’ LionhearTV exclusively interviewed De Guzman detailed how he had an intense sleep paralysis after they filmed scenes for the upcoming horror film.
“I used to get a lot of sleep paralysis, ‘yung mga bangungot, and apparently, one of the nights that we shot after that, I got home, and I got a really bad dream, like sleep paralysis, kasi ‘yun pala ‘yung lugar namin, haunted siya, abandoned school eh. Tapos sinabi noong caretaker, may multo daw doon. May multo daw, tapos after ng nag-shoot natulog ako, pero grabe ‘yun ano ko, sleep paralysis, ‘yung nightmare ko.”
The cast earlier implied that the said haunted school got featured in the Kapuso news magazine show ‘Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho,’ The featured story shows an alleged ‘white lady’ who got caught on camera during a graduation video.
The KMJS featured school is the Macario B. Asistio Sr. High School in Barangay 14, Caloocan City.
He also discussed his filmography, including the Amazon Prime movie, ‘Day Zero.’
“[This] (movie) is my second time. I did a film–a feature film before– called ‘Day Zero.’ It’s on Amazon Prime SouthEast Asia, so that’s with Reality (and) the producers were sir Dondon Monteverde and Direk Erik Matti. He was my mentor during that.”
He discussed how he pulled ideas and inspiration from anime and video games.
“I look a lot to anime (and) games. So [like,] they have a lot of ideas that haven’t [been translated] to film. So, that’s where I get my ideas from –anime and games. Like Resident Evil, I forgot the Zombie anime [that] I watched, but I got a lot of ideas from that.”
