Kapamilya actor Donny Pangilinan faced an unusual challenge while preparing for his role in the upcoming ABS-CBN series, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love.’
According to the series director, Mae Cruz-Alviar, Donny encountered some difficulties while portraying his character in the show.
In the storyline of this new ABS-CBN and Netflix collaboration, Donny plays the character of Bingo, a successful online seller who juggles multiple jobs to make ends meet in his daily life.
Director Mae shared an interesting anecdote from the set, revealing that Donny had to ride a jeepney for a specific scene in the series. This presented a unique challenge for the actor, as he had never experienced riding a jeepney before in his life.
The scene required a sense of urgency, and when the director called for “Action!”, everyone was expected to move quickly. However, Donny, known for his polite and gentlemanly demeanor, decided to wait in line like any other passenger. Mae had to remind him to temporarily set aside his natural politeness and fully embrace the hustle and bustle of the scene, where time was of the essence.
In a playful manner, she even quipped, “First time mo bang sumakay ng jeep?” to which Donny honestly replied, “Opo.”
The director explained that it was indeed Donny’s first time riding a jeepney, and he had to adapt to the unfamiliar experience for the sake of his role.
‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ is set to premiere on Netflix on October 13, giving viewers a unique glimpse into Donny Pangilinan’s dedication and versatility as an actor as he takes on new challenges to bring his character to life in this highly anticipated series.
