On October 4, Kapamilya stars Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano (DonBelle) talked about their discoveries with each other while working on their upcoming series, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love.’
At the media event for ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’ which LionhearTV covered, Pangilinan said Mariano surprised him with her ever-growing talent and performance as an actress.
“Sa dami na namin ng project na ginagawa, nakikita ko kasi ‘yung husay ni Belle. Parang mas nadi-discover ko na kaya pa pala niyang maging mas mahusay. Na parang akala ko na you know, she’s already been in the industry for quite sometime, ever since she was a kid, na parang alam na niya ‘yung craft niya, ‘yung atake niya ganon na lang.
“Pero hindi eh, she always surprises me and everyone with the performances that she gives. So ‘yun parang more of a surprise to me na mga binibigay niya sa mga eksena, kaya pa niyang maging mas magaling, at mag-exert pa ng ibang atake. It’s always a proud moment for me when I see that.”
Mariano highlighted Pangilinan’s dedication to his craft as a young actor.
“Mas nagiging evident sa akin kung gaano siya kapursigido sa ginagawa niya. The more I work with him–[it was also what] inspires me to work even harder. So, I’m [so happy] to go through this journey with him.”
Pangilinan also discussed the challenge of doing a full-on teleserye compared to their previous projects.
“Honestly, siguro ‘yung challenge talaga, since first teleserye namin ni Belle, is the schedule of shooting for a show that will last quite sometime, quite a few months. Kasi kapag movie kasi, less than one month, tapos na ‘yung shoot eh. ‘Yung series namin na He’s Into Her 12 episodes lang ‘yun, di ba?”
Mariano cited the challenge of the characterization of her role in the series.
“Parang sobrang reserve niya, sobrang stoic niya, sobrang lahat ng bitbit niya sa buhay, sinasarili niya lang. Ayun siguro, kasi lahat ng bigat nasa loob niya. Usually nga minsan, kapag lumalabas ako ng set, nadadala ko siya ang bigat bigat pala ng feeling ko kahit wala na ako sa set. Getting into the character, and getting out of the character ‘yun ang isa sa mga challenges na na-encounter ko.”
As for their series, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ stars Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano with Nova Villa, Rowell Santiago, Agot Isidro, and Ruffa Gutierrez.
