Direk Jose Javier Reyes highlights that he likes working with newbie stars

On August 17, director Jose Javier Reyes highlighted he liked working with newbie stars.

At the media conference for his upcoming Vivamax series ‘Secret Campus,’ which LionhearTV covered, Reyes explained that he liked working with new stars because it is easy to instill good work ethics in them.

“On the contrary, I love working with mga baguhan, okay. Kasi ang mga baguhan ay maraming learning silang nakukuha. Ang mga baguhan walang sungay, hindi ba. At kung may sungay man madaling baliin dahil nagsisimula pa lang sila.”

He then noted that he got pleasantly surprised to see the talent of the young cast of ‘Secret Campus.’

“I was so pleasantly surprised no, I was pleasantly surprised. In all honesty, noong nagka-casting, si Azi lang ang hiningi ko kasi si Azi lang ang kakilala ko. Tapos pinakilala– oo kasi si Azi lang nakatrabaho ko.

“I think one of her earliest roles is sa Anna, sa series na Anna. So hindi ko kilala si Armina, si Angelica, si Ataska, and I’ve seen movies of Angel– Angela Morena. But I wanted to work with her.”

He then pointed out how he saw a young Ana Capri with one of his stars Angela Morena.

“I dare say this– si Angela Morena– reminded me so much of Ana Capri. Remember si Ana Capri is my baby from Live Show and so many movies [that] I’ve done.

“And I told Angela, and as well as I told everyone of them, I’ve told Ataska, and then Armina, and then Angelica, sabi ko sa kanila I wish I could work with them in a movie in which is not of adult content para mapakita nila sa publiko ‘yung galing nila bilang artista. Because they’re very, very, very good, compared to some of the baguhans [that] were there.”

He then recounted how he cast the stars of the upcoming four-part Vivamax series, especially with Azi Acosta, whom he had worked with before.

“Katulad ng sabi ko, I messaged Valerie–Valerie Del Rosario, and Jun Rufino, itong apat na artistang ‘to is ang gagaling. Sabi ko, there is more to them that meets the eye. I know they are doing adult roles kasi hindi ba they’re doing sexy roles.

“Pero, when I delved with them– kasi si Azi lang ang nakatrabaho ko sa kanilang lima, si Azi (Acosta) pa lang ang nakatrabaho ko and I haven’t worked with Armina, I havent worked with Angelica, and I haven’t worked with Angela Morena.”

‘Secret Campus’ stars Azi Acosta, Angela Morena, Ataska, Angelica Hart, and Armina Alegre.

The cast also features Aaron Villaflor, CJ Jaravata, Victor Relosa, Jem Milton, Aerol Carmelo, Clifford Pusing, Erlinda Villalobos, Roi Alonte, Chad Alviar, Jaggy Lejano, RJ De Vera, Aaron Concepcion, Ali Asaytona, and Benzo Santiago.

The series, under the direction of Jose Javier Reyes, streams on August 27 via Vivamax
