On September 23, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes acknowledged the value of TV ratings for ‘Family Feud.’
During the media event for ‘Family Feud’ at the GMA Network Studio 7, which LionhearTV covered, Dantes clarified that while ratings matter, his focus as a host is making the game show work.
“Of course, I would be lying kung sabihin ko na hindi siya mahalaga, but as a performer and a host, the primary goal is to make it work first, di ba ‘yun muna, gawin ko muna ng tama ‘yung tungkulin ko as a host.
“I have to make sure that everybody’s happy and we’re doing the technical aspects of the show right. And then, siyempre, ang susunod doon ay gusto nating malaman kung na-appreciate ba ng mga tao.”
However, he highlighted that ratings and feedback from viewers help their show.
“So para sa akin, mahalagang-mahalaga na nagugustuhan ng tao ‘yung ginagawa natin, because ibig sabihin, we maybe are doing something right, di ba? Kaya nagugustuhan nila. And then siyempre kapag nagugustuhan nila, nag-tratranslate to ratings.”
Dantes also noted how good ratings motivate the production team behind the game show.
“Although, marami rin naman ibang factors ang ratings na hindi natin ma-control. Minsan kahit ibinigay mo na talaga ang lahat, maganda talaga, marami ang nanonood, for some reason, it’s a technical thing, hindi natin ma-explain kung bakit.
“Pero siyempre, kung mataas ang ratings, very, very happy ang lahat. From us performers, to production, lahat masaya po, lalo na ‘yung manonood dahil napaligaya namin sila.”
He then cited their throwback themes as their top-rating episodes for ‘Family Feud.’
“Base sa kanila, minsan may nakikita rin silang trend pero minsan nagbabago-bago rin. Pero madalas talaga kapag throwback. Talagang nagiging interesado ‘yung mga manonood. Especially, ‘yung mga celebrities at artista na hindi na nila nakikita for a very long time na dati talagang very, very active sa TV. Tapos curious ka na makita sila ulit at nag-eenjoy. So madalas kapag ganon po marami po ang nanonood.”
Dantes returns on air with new episodes of ‘Family Feud’ starting October 2 via GMA Network, before their Kapuso News Program, ’24 Oras.’
