While Alessandra de Rossi has appeared in various Kapuso drama-anthologies in recent years, it was not until the upcoming GMA Public Affairs-produced magical realism film, ‘Firefly,’ that she worked in a full-length Kapuso project again.
During an intimate chitchat with some members of the press, the 39-year old actress expressed her excitement over the chance of acting in a GMA Network project, after being with other TV networks, for years.
The award-winning actress Alessandra de Rossi notably starred in her last full-length Kapuso series in 2016 via ‘Wish I May.’
“Ok naman—charot! I love GMA Films. GMA News and Public Affairs!” she said. Asked what made her sign up with the project, which is about a kid who believes in magic, she took note of her close friend, Zig Dulay, the director of the film, as the primary reason.
“Siya. Siyempre, ano kami eh, alam mo na. Siyempre, gusto mong balikan ‘yung pakikipagtrabaho sa kaibigan mong magaling ha, masayang kasama, ” she said, adding that the story itself was enticing enough to convince her to say ‘yes’ to the offer. “…saka maganda talaga ‘yung kwento. Sabi ko, sige, game na to!,“.
As for Angeli Atienza, the main writer of the film, she admitted that De Rossi was actually on top of her mind, when she was still writing the script for Firefly.
“Actually habang sinusulat ko ‘to, parang naiimagine ko talaga someone like Alex. Tapos si Zig pa. Si Zig talaga ‘yun. Eh alam ko napanood ko ‘yung movie nila together,” she told the press.
Moreover, de Rossi confessed that the beauty of the script made her say ‘yes’ right away, playfully suggesting that she got somewhat worried that the role might go to another actor. “Okay, gets ko na ‘to. Parang hindi ko rin matatanggap kung iba,” she said.
As of writing, no official release date has been set for Firefly. but efforts are being made to help it make the cut in this year’s MMFF. The movie wrapped up filming in late August.
