On October 13, Viva artist Aiko Garcia revealed how she prepared for her role in ‘Haliparot’ despite her lack of acting experience.
At the media event for ‘Haliparot,’ which LionhearTV covered, Garcia first acknowledged her lack of acting experience.
“Totoo po ‘yun, wala po akong prior experience pagdating sa acting, I have B-role, and kung may lead man ako from– so iba.
“So hindi ganon kalawak ‘yung experience ko, and wala din akong masasabi na advance workshop sa acting, ganyan. I know myself na hindi ako fully equipped when it comes to acting, and ano talaga na kinakabahan ako.”
She recounted how she felt nervous when taking on her first leading role in a film.
“‘Yung binigay naman ‘yung project sa akin. Sabi ko, hindi ako ready, me, myself, I know I’m not ready, pero I cannot say no, kasi alam mo ‘yun opportunity might only knock once di ba? So sabi ko, wala akong ibang option kung hindi gawin ang best ko.
“So first two days, talaga, I have to admit na sobrang kabado ako, ang ano talaga ng acting ko. Sabi ko kay Mommy–tumatawag ako sa manager ko, ‘Mommy, ang baduy ng acting ko, ayaw ko na.’ Tapos sabi niya, ‘No, kaya mo ‘yan.’ Kahit nauto ako, pero nakatulong naman.”
However, thanks to prayers, Garcia was able to pull through and portray her role in the Vivamax movie.
“So ito lang ang pinaka-secret ko, I have to– second night nangyari noong, maaga kaming nag-pack up, kasi we had technical issues, second night, sabi ko noon that time, ‘Ang bigat, hindi ko nabibigay ‘yung best ko. Ang bigat ng paligid, what happened?’
“So I prayed, that night I had a sincere prayer talaga, sabi ko, ‘Lord, ayaw kong sayangin ‘to.’ I only have three days left para gawin ang best ko, kailangan kong bumawi. And ayaw kong ma-disappoint ‘yung mga taong nag-tiwala sa akin.
“I surrendered all my doubts and fears, kasi ‘yun ‘yung nagpre-prevent kaya di ko nabibigay ‘yung best ko eh. So sinurrender ko lang through prayer, and then from that day onwards, sobrang gaan, sabi ko, ‘Ay iba, iba ang power of prayer.'”
As for their movie, ‘Haliparot’ stars Maui Taylor, Aiko Garcia, Matthew Francisco, and Aerol Carmelo.
Under the direction of Bobby Bonafacio Jr, ‘Haliparot’ streams on Vivamax starting October 20.
